We started by talking about what a QR code is and how you can access them. They are not new, but they are new to some people.
We have had different experiences with QR codes, sometimes being born out of boredom. However, for anyone who has played with them, there is a "fun" element to scanning things like QR codes.
We discussed the benefits of QR codes, many of which are offline benefits that draw people into the internet. It is much easier to scan a QR than to try to read a domain and type it into the phone, especially if the domain is a play on words or alternate spelling. There are so many other things that can be done with those codes, as well, beyond just a visit to a site. However, the use of a code to get people to your site is an excellent start.
There are more opportunities and ideas for how to use QR codes than could be discussed in one hour. Check out the archive to read more and get your creative juices flowing. Some of us are already making our lists!.
